Schaetzler Palace

A wealthy banker and silver trader had this magnificent three storey Rococo palace built and styled completely after Versailles, by Munich court architect and building master Albert von Lespilliez. The best view of the Schaezler Palace is from the median, where the Hercules fountain is. This white facade feature of Maximilianstraße, the one with the gold decorated wrought iron gates, is crowned by a triangular gable carrying the architect's coat of arms. A gilded star adorns the top of the gable. The long facade on Katharinengasse is fitted with 96 windows, which allows one to imagine the impressive suite of rooms on the second floor. It ends in the royally furnished rococo ballroom, which counts among the best preserved ballrooms of the 18th century...
